Capizzi Home Improvement did a complete remodel of a basement for our customer’s family in East Falmouth. Starting with an unfinished, walk-out basement, the family envisioned a multi-purpose space to include an exercise area, workshop, craft area, half-bath, wine storage, bookshelves and small kitchen area. All while giving the illusion that it had been in place all along!

Said the client: “There’s nothing we didn’t like bout this project. No surprises on cost or timing and the end result has exceeded our expectations. The project planning and execution was fun and we enjoyed the professionalism and expertise of all involved in the project.”

“Overall, there is no better endorsement than repeat business. We have already contracted with Capizzi Home Improvement for additional project work, based on excellent results on our first project.” This client clearly became a raving fan!

This was a complex project, with many elements that had to work together and still allow for smooth traffic flow. Working from an architectural floor plan, we used our innovative 3-D design program to successfully “manage the space” to incorporate all that features the client desired. We were able to show the Hargraves exactly what their new basement was going to look like. The extra time and effort we spent on the design stage helped to ensure the project ran smoothly and without major complications.

Our final design incorporated many elements from the home’s existing living area to provide a seamless transition to the new space. We began by stripping the basement to the walls, which we insulated using closed cell spray insulation to provide excellent thermal performance.

The 1,375 square foot basement now includes a craft area with built-in cabinets and counters, a workout area with wall-mounted video screen, a game room with enough space for a ping pong table, a small kitchen area with built-in wine storage, and even dedicated space for off-season storage of outdoor furniture. The centerpiece is a four-sided stone-face center chimney with a gas-insert fireplace that mirrors the fireplace in the upstairs living room.

We were able to show the client exactly what their new basement was going to look like. The extra time and effort we spent on the design stage helped to ensure the project ran smoothly and without major complications.

The end result is spectacular. The raw, unfinished basement space from a typical unfinished basement with exposed wall and ceiling framing and mechanicals was transformed into a truly elegant and functional multi-purpose space.

WHOLE-HOUSE REMODELING OF 1010 CRAIGVILLE BEACH ROAD (SITS ON CRAIGVILLE PENINSULA BETWEEN OCEAN AND RIVER)

A whole house remodeling project was exactly what our home needed in order to capitalize on its ocean and river front environment.  Our 1,408 square foot, 1950’s, three-bedroom, four-bath, summer cottage was transformed into a 3,079 square foot, four-bedroom, five-bath, beach home with multiple decks, a widow’s walk, 360° views, and new landscaping.

We renovated the entire interior, including new flooring, removal of numerous “built-ins” to create an open floor plan, creation of a dining room leading to the addition, and a custom kitchen.  Additionally, we custom-built a fireplace mantle and updated the lighting.

To maintain its “Old Cape Cod” charm, we kept original art-deco style bathrooms and pine paneling.

The master suite was designed to take advantage of the stunning river views; the master bath has a glass enclosed steam shower, hot tub, and custom tile.

The 30 x 20 great-room boasts 360° ocean and river views, five sliders that lead to three wrap-around decks and a balcony, and a spiral staircase leading to the new  immense widow’s walk, which towers over the Craigville Beach peninsula and neighboring roof tops.

Exterior remodeling includes bleached shingle siding, roofing, custom wood shutters, and a stone stoop.  Extensive landscaping completes the transformation.

Seeking to expand their ranch-style home in order to provide additional living space for their children and grandchildren when they visited during the summer, the client initially contacted Capizzi Home Improvement to discuss remodeling their basement. However, because of the proximity of a tidal saltwater river, the home is in a flood zone and a finished basement was out of the question.

So we looked up. Adding a second story would provide the space needed while taking advantage of spectacular water views. We used our innovative 3-D design software program to help visualize their project to ensure that we met their needs. Our clients were able to view their remodeled home before we even began.

We designed a second story addition with a full dormer as well as a deck and slider over the wraparound deck. During the design phase we came up with the creative idea to recess a portion of the deck into the house, which added a lot of interest to this elevation, and extending a Juliet balcony out over the lower deck.

The new second floor and revised first floor layout truly changed this home. A large living room with vaulted ceilings features a hand-crafted stairway that wraps up, around, and across; leading to all new rooms on the second level. Our clients gained a formal dining room on the first floor and two bedrooms, an office, full bath and laundry on the new second level.

As with all new second story additions, protecting the existing first floor was a great challenge during construction. We took extra measures to protect and cover the hardwood floors, existing walls, bath, and kitchen.

To address our client’s desire for low-maintenance features, we used vinyl shake shingling on the exterior and PVC trim as well as vinyl windows with triple glazing for extensive energy savings. The exterior is now 100% maintenance free.

This home was transformed from an average ranch to a beautifully customized and spacious Cape. Despite challenging weather we completed the remodeling a full month ahead of schedule. Taking the time to communication and cooperate with the homeowner resulted in a wonderful experience for all involved.

Before

After

Wishing to expand their ranch-style home so that they could welcome visiting children , our client in Forestdale originally intended to add a finished basement. This precluded additional basement work. So we looked up!

During the renovation process, extra precautions were taken to protect existing rooms and finishes. Starting the project in late September, we also faced weather challenges that kept us on site long into the evening and over several weekends. Fortunately, open communications and a spirit of collaboration with the client resulted in a smooth process that was completed a full month ahead of schedule.

Now the client has a beautifully finished “new” home that has plenty of space for visiting family members.

Our client’s residence was a typical Cape style home. They were looking to remodel their kitchen, but also wanted to create a more functional open floor plan with additional space that would enable them to relocate to the residence on a full-time basis. The property has served as a second home and was suited for that purpose, but needed renovations if it was to serve as a primary residence.

Our designer came up with the perfect plan; after a few revisions, she unveiled the new  remodel project using our 3-D Virtual Tour software displayed on our big screen and  showed our client what their newly remodeled home would look like. Not only did it accomplish everything they wanted, but our virtual tour software planning process allowed our clients to visualize exactly what the completed project would look and feel like.

We built a 14’ x 14’ dining room addition, expanded their existing kitchen into their old dining room and converted an existing porch into an enclosed family room. The executed project resulted in an open floor plan from the living room into the newly remodeled high-end expanded kitchen, which included beautiful new cabinetry, granite countertops,
wood flooring throughout, all leading into a new dining room and sunroom addition with a mahogany deck, resulting in a stunning transformation which met all of our client’s living and entertaining needs. As we know, everyone usually congregates around the kitchen and now our clients not only have the extra space needed for that, but also a truly beautiful and welcoming living and entertaining area in which you can’t help but feel comfortable.

Before

After

The East Falmouth home of this client was a “traditional” Cape that was outdated and in need of significant repairs and updates. However, the “bones” of the home were in good shape, and the homeowner decided to renovate in place rather than move.

We began work on the exterior of the home. Starting at the top, we installed a new 30-year roof with seamless gutters and a skylight, replaced every window with energy-efficient thermal pane windows, added new shutters, and a new brick step with new entry door.

Then we moved inside, tearing out walls to create an open floor plan, and continuing with a complete makeover of the home’s kitchen, and remodels of two bathrooms. New wood flooring was installed throughout the home, with beadboard walls and stylish molding. The kitchen was actually expanded into a new 14’ x 15’ gabled addition with a vaulted ceiling and skylights, cherry cabinets, granite countertops, a cook’s island and new lighting fixtures.

This project completely transformed the home from a drab Cape to a modern home with beautiful custom features and plenty of curb appeal.

Before and After

“The main reason we decided to go with your company was due to the interest in the project, suggestions, and follow-up demonstrated by Aaron Roderick and you (Tom Capizzi). Being from Connecticut, we had to select a contractor we trusted completely as we would only be inspecting the work on a monthly basis,” said this customer.

“Now that the work has been completed, we feel very fortunate to have chosen Capizzi Home Improvement,” said Chet Babiarz. “We are very pleased with the way the project turned out and would be happy to recommend you and your entire team to anyone contemplating an investment in a home improvement project.”

Off-Cape owners must put a great deal of trust in the contractors they hire to repair or remodel their vacation homes. When the clients decided to expand their Dennisport Cape, they chose Capizzi Home Improvement.

His confidence was well placed. We tackled a multi-faceted project that transformed the home into a more spacious and comfortable retreat. We started with a computer design that provided a “virtual” look at what the renovated home would look like. This allowed us to tweak the design and work out changes ahead of the project’s start.

This was both an interior and exterior project. On the inside, we built a spacious family room addition that extends out onto a large new outdoor deck. At the same time we remodeled the home’s kitchen and installed new flooring.

Outside, in addition to the huge new deck, we installed a new roofing systems, including new gutters. Then wrapped the home in premium vinyl siding with aluminum trim elements. The new exterior work completely transformed the look of the home.
